Crystal Allies
Today I want to talk about crystals and stones. They are one of my favorite tools and I am always using them for a wide variety of purposes because I can so clearly feel their support.
Recently, one of my good friends and clients offered to allow me to use their cabin in the mountains of NC. It is a magnificent log cabin with a spectacular view, very secluded and comfortable. I had never been to this particular area before and took some time to just look around. Whenever I’m in the mountains, I always try to visit the local rock store and this time was no different. I was told the nearest store was in Spruce Pine and how to get there. I was also told the lady who owned this store was kind of odd and curious which actually sounded about right to me. You can’t be in the presence of the stones without being affected by them whether you are aware of it or not. And I have always found their influence to be very positive and helpful so I headed to Spruce Pine. On the sign for the town it said “The Mineral City” and I thought how perfect that was. I found the store with no problem and walked in and was magnetically drawn to a large stone just to the left of the door. It was exquisite and I could not stop touching it. It was enormous and I wanted to hug it. After I spent some time there a lady came over and said “I see you have good taste”. We started to talk and of course she was the owner of this shop. She talked a little about the very expensive stone I was so in love with and then told me to take my time and enjoy myself. No problem! I asked her what time she closed because I can get lost in a place like that for hours and not know it. She told me not to worry about that and that she would be open as long as I was still exploring. I could feel this stone, which was a very large natural citrine, warming my entire body very thoroughly and activating the energy in my navel chakra. It was as if my inner lamp was being refueled. I was reminded that Mark’s death had initially made me feel quite powerless and informed that that had drained this chakra. I spent quite a bit of time there and still had to kind of tear myself away from it. But very close by were some lovely quartz pieces that I began to explore. One of them was calling me but I had to pick up several to figure out which one it was. Many of them were moderately expensive but this one was not. As soon as I picked it up, it fit in my hand like it was made for it. The store owner was watching me and immediately came over. She said, “wow, you really know your stones don’t you! What are you feeling with that one?” I told her it had been saying “I’m the one you’re looking for.” She explained that these stones had been mined by a close friend of hers on an Indian reservation in the US. It had an ancient feeling energy that was radiating into my heart through my right side. I thanked her for the information and continued to hold my new friend. It is what is called a self healed quartz which to me makes it quite valuable though the $18 price didn’t reflect that someone knew what it was. These stones are master teachers and can assist you in accepting difficult experiences, like your boyfriend dying. See how amazing crystals are?! They help us to see the resulting growth and integrate it on all levels. These kinds of stones can facilitate healing on all levels. I held it in my hand while I walked around until something else grabbed my attention. I can get overstimulated in a crystal store pretty easily and I know how to ground some of the energy when I need to.
The shop owner had a number of stories to tell once she got comfortable with me. She told me that the store sat on the site of an ancient temple during the times of Atlantis. She took me in the back and showed me a shrine she had erected and explained this was the entrance to the temple. There was some big energy moving back there. She had her most prized and special collection there and began to show a number of her specimens including a new stone discovered by a man who lived in the area. She told me how they had sent the stone to a renowned stone expert and author called Melody who wrote Love is in the Earth, and showed me a letter they had received from her with her thoughts on the properties of this stone which she called a master stone based on the number of different types of stone that made up this one stone. She told me what she had was all there was except for what the man who discovered it had. It was way out of my price range and I honestly didn’t feel particularly called to it. I got a couple of other things and left.
The last couple of days I have been very drawn to the quartz I purchased and have been spending a lot of time with it. In addition to being a self healed quartz it is also what is called a cathedral quartz meaning that it has spires like a castle or cathedral. I have several of these kinds of stones and find their energy very open and big. Some people believe these stones to be helpful in connecting with the cosmic mind and the intelligence of the universe and all its inhabitants. I would have to agree. I never question why I feel attracted to a stone. I simply trust that it is providing some kind of support just like a friend would. That’s how I see my crystals, as friends.
